flashback pt. 1

ok, so the story goes. as children often do, we could NOT figure out what to get our parents one christmas a couple years ago. so vain as we are, we thought a collection of evocative photographs of the three of us would warm their filipino hearts. i think we might have taken it too far, but it's all love. btw, who's that dude with hair in the back...weird.  photos by cin of course.

the long and winding road...

As they say...its a long way to the top. Unless you have a car, that is.

We decided to get out of the house last Sunday and take the boys up to Runyon Canyon in the Hollywood Hills. Amidst all the self-involved actors and uber-moguls running around, we got a chance to get a nice hike and catch some gorgeous, albeit smoggy, views of the Lost Angles. No summit was to be reached really, just a nice journey, and some new experiences for little Mateyo Kidlat.

when the mundane becomes fascinating..

We've done it a million times in our lives. Taken food and placed it in our mouths. Sometimes in a rush, in our cars, to-go, take-out, sit-in, with black and tie on, by candlelight, and with our entire family at a huge table. Most of the time we take it for granted. Here's one of Mateyo's first times chewing on some semi-solids...and he seems to be very into it. Maybe we should be just as mindful at every meal.

Some new pics...

The new year has started out great. Mateyo is growing up and really testing the limits of my arm strength, which I assure you, is not much. He's probably pushing the 14-pound threshold these days. We're trying to get him to start eating semi-solid stuff like rice cereal so that he can be full and stop yapping all day for milk ;)

Anyways, enjoy the first pics of '08.

Holiday Recap 2007

Hey y'all. As promised, here's a recap of the holidays that were...circa 2007. It was loads of fun, and I have to say, it was a lot easier to get through it living vicariously through your kid. Anyways, on to the recap:

Things started off simply enough. Getting the tree for Mateyo's first Christmas. The boys were a great help, as they brought the beautiful douglas fir in and mounted it with minimal help.

Here they are arguing over who would put the star at the top. Kids! Ya gotta love em.

On Christmas Eve, we joined Cindy's dad to a festive breakfast at his office in the Los Angeles Convention Center. Here' s Teyo chillin in the lobby admiring the architecture.

The food was amazing of course. Here's a look at Cindy's sister, Abbie's...ahem, subtle creation...

Mateyo had to represent of course, we WERE next to Staples, after all. Lakers...what!?!

Now what other holiday can you take a picture with a large strange white man and smile. Cheese!! The requisite Santa shot at its best.

Next we went to visit the kind people at Kaiser Permanente, so that Nana Jane could show off her new bundle of joy. Cheese again!!!

Of course, the Holidays wouldn't be anything without family. So here's a bunch of photos that just show the variety of partying that was going down during the holidays (Mateyo was asleep for about 75% of this run, but we'll give him a pass this time around)

Mateyo's internal monologue: "Do you realize what I am wearing?"

Mateyo kicks it with his Auntie Sherry and cousin Adrianna.

Meanwhile, Naomi was getting Funky.

They were getting Crunk.

It was getting Late.

Ok...who's got the twos?

I was getting Coffee.

Getting a kodak moment.

Got milk?

Awww. Getting kisses.

Getting way more presents than everyone.

Finally, here's Mateyo's last picture of 2007. New Year's Eve...he was mad cranky and wanting to sleep. Meanwhile Cin and I were jumping around with change in our pockets, toasting glasses of water. Weird parents.

--

We would like to send love out to everyone..all of our friends and family!! Thanks for bringing happiness into our world and for making Mateyo's first year a memorable one! Unfortunately, we haven't been the best thank-you-and-greeting-card-sending kinda family around...but know that we DEEPLY APPRECIATE all the love and support.

We hope you have a great 2008!!

-love,
